Home Trends for 2023

2023 is showing us interesting new trends in home design, along with a comeback of a few select classics. Read on to see what’s on point this year,

  • Smart home technology integration in design, while a few still love their manual switches, many have fully embraced the smart home tech. Operations of lights, heating & cooling on command, refrigerators that tell you when you’re out of groceries and automatic blinds are all the craze.
  • Maximalist interior design with bold colours and patterns. This has made a comeback, with many people loving their designer lounges, loud colours and metallic tapware. Gold colour taps, anyone?
  • Biophilic design incorporating natural elements like plants and green walls. As we embrace tech, our inner humanness craves nature even more. This innate need is satisfied by bringing the outdoors in, and we’re not just talking about more plants but of living green walls, trees incorporated in the design and more!
  • Sustainable and eco-friendly materials for construction and decor are on trend, and rightly so! Sustainability is at the centre of design for new builds, considering the materials used, energy consumption, incorporating alternative energy forms, etc. As minimal an impact on the environment as possible for a better future for everyone.
  • Use of vintage and antique pieces for a touch of nostalgia. Modern is in, but so are grand, vintage accent pieces for that lived-in feeling and artistic expression.
  • Earthy and neutral colour palettes for a calming effect are a great way to create a relaxing space: soothing colours, natural materials and neutral tones for a zen-inspiring feeling in the home.
